The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has intensified its probe into financial irregularities just weeks before the high-stakes Assembly elections. In a major development, Debasish Kumar, the outgoing MLA and TMC candidate from Rashbehari, was summoned to the ED office at CGO Complex, Salt Lake, on Monday. He appeared before the central agency and is currently being interrogated regarding alleged anomalies in land transactions.

According to ED sources, the move follows a recent raid on the premises of businessman Amit Gangopadhyay, where several incriminating documents were seized. Investigators suspect a massive money-laundering operation disguised as land deals. Debasish Kumar’s name reportedly surfaced during the scrutiny of these documents. While the ruling TMC has yet to issue an official statement, the summons has already ignited a fresh war of words between the ruling party and the opposition amidst the election frenzy.
