State Jail Minister and Bolpur candidate Chandranath Singh has claimed that TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has personally directed Mandal to take charge of the district’s organizational activities ahead of the elections.

According to Singh, who is considered a close confidant of the leader popularly known as ‘Kesto,’ Abhishek Banerjee categorically told him, “You must take the responsibility for the district.” This statement effectively clears the fog surrounding Anubrata’s role in the party following his lengthy incarceration and subsequent return. While a ‘Core Committee’ had been managing the district’s affairs in his absence, this latest development suggests that the old guard is back in the driving seat.

Political observers believe that with the elections around the corner, the TMC leadership is relying on Anubrata’s unparalleled organizational grip and influence over the local electorate to counter the opposition’s surge.
