Nabanna Sets Deadline: Pending DA Arrears to Reach Accounts Within This Week!

In a major relief for West Bengal government employees, the state administration (Nabanna) has issued a decisive order to clear outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears before the current financial year concludes on March 31, 2026. This move is expected to benefit lakhs of state employees and pensioners who have been advocating for their dues for a considerable period.
According to sources within the Finance Department, the necessary administrative clearances have been fast-tracked to ensure that the funds reach the beneficiaries’ bank accounts without further delay. Treasuries across the state have been placed on high alert to process the bills immediately. This sudden acceleration in clearing the dues is being viewed by political analysts as a strategic move ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections, aimed at pacifying a significant voter bloc of government workers.
While the exact percentage of the arrears to be cleared is yet to be fully specified for all tiers, the instruction to finish the process by March 31 leaves no room for ambiguity. Employee unions, which have been protesting for parity with Central Government DA rates, have acknowledged this as a positive step, though many continue to demand a complete adjustment of all previous dues. For now, the focus remains on the implementation, as employees look forward to a bolstered bank balance by the end of this month, marking a cheerful end to the financial year.
