Speaking from a massive rally in Labhpur, Birbhum, the TMC National General Secretary dismissed Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim of forming a BJP government on May 6. To cement the TMC’s connect with the masses, Abhishek hinted at a major upcoming welfare project specifically designed for the elderly population of West Bengal. Building on the success of ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ for women and ‘Yuvashree’ for the youth, he announced that the state government is preparing a grand scheme to provide financial independence to every senior citizen. “Our elders are the foundation of our society. He ridiculed the central leadership, stating that they are “seasonal visitors” who only appear during elections.
