‘Didi gives, Modi takes!’ Abhishek Banerjee’s scathing attack on BJP from Binpur rally

In a high-octane campaign rally at Binpur in Jhargram, TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led central government. Highlighting the state’s flagship ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme, Abhishek claimed that while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is putting money directly into the hands of women, the Centre is snatching it away through inflation. His slogan, “On one hand Didi gives, and on the other hand Modi takes!” resonated strongly with the crowd.

Addressing a massive gathering, Abhishek explained that the West Bengal government provides ₹1000 to ₹1200 monthly to women for financial independence. However, he argued that the central government is neutralizing this benefit by hiked prices of LPG cylinders, petrol, and essential commodities. “Didi gives you money to run the household, but Modiji increases the gas price to ₹1000 and takes that money back. Isn’t this akin to picking the pockets of the common man?” Abhishek questioned.

The TMC leader also brought up the issue of withheld central funds, alleging that Delhi has blocked money for the 100-day work scheme (MGNREGA) and Awas Yojana to spite the people of Bengal. He urged the voters of Binpur to use their ballots as a weapon against this “political vendetta” and the “apathy” of the central leadership.

Political analysts view this as a strategic move to consolidate the crucial female vote bank by linking the benefits of social welfare schemes to the rising cost of living. By framing the election as a battle between ‘Didi’s social security’ and ‘Modi’s inflation,’ Abhishek Banerjee has set a powerful narrative for the upcoming phases of the West Bengal Elections.
