‘You Will Get Nothing Without TMC!’ Mamata Banerjee Warns Bengal of Losing Social Schemes

In a high-pitched electoral battle in Pandaveswar, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sent a strong message to the voters ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls. Addressing a massive gathering, the TMC supremo warned, “If Trinamool Congress is not there, you will get absolutely nothing except atrocities.” Her statement has sparked a massive political row, as she directly linked the continuity of state-run social welfare schemes to her party’s survival in power.
Listing the potential losses for the common man, Mamata claimed that schemes like ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ (monthly financial aid for women) would be the first to be scrapped if the BJP comes to power. She further alerted the youth and students about the fate of ‘Kanyashree’ and ‘Student Credit Cards.’ “Free ration and the Swasthya Sathi health insurance of ₹5 Lakhs will be snatched away from you. The opposition will only bring CBI, ED, and fear,” she thundered, urging the people to protect the “pro-people” government of Bengal.
Political experts believe this rhetoric is a strategic move to consolidate the vote bank that relies heavily on the state’s direct benefit transfer (DBT) schemes. While the opposition BJP mocked her comments as a sign of desperation and “politics of fear,” the TMC believes that reminding voters of the tangible benefits of their governance is key to winning 2026. As the campaign intensifies, Mamata’s “all-or-nothing” ultimatum has become the central theme of the political discourse in West Bengal.
