Stone Pelters Beware! High-Tech CCTV Surveillance to Catch Miscreants Near Railway Tracks

In a bid to curb the rising incidents of stone-pelting on premium and local trains, the Indian Railways has launched a massive crackdown. With trains like the Vande Bharat Express frequently becoming targets of vandalism, the Eastern Railway has announced that “every move” near the tracks is now being strictly monitored. There will be no room for leniency for those who endanger the lives of passengers and cause damage to national property.

CPRO of Eastern Railway, Shri Shivram Majhi, delivered a strong message to potential offenders. He stated, “No one should forget that they are under constant CCTV surveillance. Every single action taken near the railway lines is being recorded. These high-definition recordings are being used to identify miscreants and will serve as primary evidence in court to ensure they face the harshest possible judgment.”

The authorities have integrated advanced surveillance systems along sensitive stretches of the railway network. Under the Railways Act, stone-pelting is a non-bailable offense that carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to five years. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is also conducting awareness drives in villages and slums near the tracks, warning residents of the severe legal consequences. The message is clear: the modern Indian Railways will not tolerate mindless vandalism, and the ‘digital eyes’ are watching everyone, everywhere.
