Humayun Kabir, the former TMC strongman and leader of the ‘Aam Janata Unnayan Party’ (AJUP), has officially unveiled ‘Whistle’ as his party’s electoral symbol. In a move that has sent ripples through the ruling camp, Kabir has formally allied with Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM to challenge the existing power dynamics in the state.

During a joint press conference in Kolkata, Asaduddin Owaisi addressed Humayun Kabir as his “elder brother,” emphasizing that this coalition is dedicated to giving a voice to the marginalized and minority communities of Bengal. Kabir announced that AJUP intends to contest 182 seats, including high-stakes constituencies like Bhawanipore and Nandigram. AIMIM is expected to field candidates in at least 8 key constituencies.
