TMC leader and Beleghata candidate Kunal Ghosh launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday, March 23, 2026. While campaigning in his constituency, Ghosh alleged that the ECI has ceased to be a neutral body and has turned into a “branch organization of the BJP.” He claimed that the recent mass transfers of IAS and IPS officers in Bengal were carried out at the behest of BJP leaders, creating an “undeclared emergency” in the state. Ghosh also raised concerns over the deletion of legitimate voters from the rolls, calling it a strategic conspiracy to favor the opposition.
