High-Stakes Session Begins! Nirmala Sitharaman to Table Key Corporate & Finance Bills Today

The second leg of the Parliamentary Budget Session resumed today with a heavy legislative agenda. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to move two pivotal bills: the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and the Finance Bill, 2026. The proposed amendments to the Companies Act, 2013, and the LLP Act, 2008, are expected to streamline business operations and enhance corporate compliance.

Apart from the financial business, the House will witness the tabling of a significant report on “Cyber Crimes and Cyber Security for Women” by BJP MP D. Purandeswari. Additionally, statements regarding the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) will be presented by TDP and YSRCP members, highlighting the government’s push for urban infrastructure.

Ministers including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary, and Sukanta Majumdar are also scheduled to lay departmental papers on the table. This phase of the session, slated to conclude on April 2, will primarily focus on passing the budgetary demands and crucial legal reforms. With the suspension of opposition members revoked recently, all eyes are on how the debate unfolds over the government’s economic roadmap for 2026-27.
