Targeting the BJP Bastion: Mamata to Kickstart 2026 Poll Campaign from Alipurduar on Tuesday

With the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections drawing closer, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to launch a massive 5-day campaign blitz starting from the northern districts—a region long considered a stronghold of the BJP. After finalizing the poll blueprint for her home constituency, Bhabanipur, on Sunday evening, the TMC supremo will head to Bagdogra on Tuesday (March 24) to commence her high-voltage tour.

According to the official itinerary, the Chief Minister will address a mega rally at the Alipurduar Parade Ground on March 24. On the same day, she is scheduled to hold public meetings in Matigara (Darjeeling district) and Maynaguri (Jalpaiguri district). The 5-day tour is designed to cover key areas across Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and the Dooars belt, aiming to win back the voter base that shifted towards the saffron camp in previous elections.

Political analysts view this early push into North Bengal as a strategic move to neutralize the BJP’s organizational strength before the first phase of polling. During her stay, Mamata is expected to highlight the state’s welfare schemes and announce new initiatives tailored for the tea garden workers and local communities. This marathon campaign trail, which concludes on March 28, is set to be the decisive opening gambit in the TMC’s battle to retain power for a fourth term.
