“Undeclared President’s Rule in Bengal!” Mamata Banerjee Blasts EC as ‘BJP’s Caged Parrot’

In a scathing attack that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today alleged that the state is under a “declared President’s Rule” orchestrated by the Election Commission (EC). Speaking at a high-octane rally on Friday, the TMC supremo accused the polling body of being a “puppet” or “parrot” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the administrative control of Bengal has been unconstitutionally seized by Delhi.
The crux of Banerjee’s explosive claims lies in the upcoming ‘Delimitation’ process and recent administrative reshuffles. She alleged that a sinister blueprint is being drafted to divide West Bengal into multiple territories following the 2026 elections. “The Delimitation exercise is nothing but a mask to implement the partition of Bengal. The Election Commission is facilitating this by arbitrarily removing names from voter lists to suit the BJP’s electoral arithmetic,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Mamata Banerjee further argued that the removal of local officers and the overwhelming presence of central forces have rendered the state government’s authority redundant, effectively creating a “shadow central rule.” She warned that any attempt to tinker with Bengal’s geography or identity would lead to widespread resistance. Framing the 2026 polls as a survival battle for the state’s integrity, she urged voters to reject those who “want to break Bengal from within.” While the EC and BJP have dismissed these claims as “frustrated rhetoric,” the narrative of a “conspiracy to divide” has now become the focal point of the TMC’s campaign as the state nears the first phase of polling.
