Adhir’s Bombshell Claim: ‘Mamata Ordered Humayun Kabir to Kill Me!’ High Drama in Murshidaba

In a startling development that has sent political temperatures soaring in West Bengal, veteran Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has leveled grave allegations against the state administration and former TMC leader Humayun Kabir. Addressing a press conference in Murshidabad, Adhir claimed that there was a calculated conspiracy to assassinate him, allegedly orchestrated at the behest of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“Unable to defeat me politically, the TMC leadership, under Mamata Banerjee’s direct instructions, tasked Humayun Kabir with finishing me off,” Adhir alleged. The firebrand leader’s statement has created a massive stir across the state, especially since Murshidabad has long been a flashpoint for political violence. Adhir suggested that this “supari” (contract killing) plan was hatched when Humayun was a key figure in the Trinamool Congress.

Responding to these heavy accusations, Humayun Kabir—who recently floated his own party, AJUP, after being suspended from the TMC—dismissed the claims as “baseless and a sign of political desperation.” He argued that Adhir is losing ground in his stronghold and is using such sensationalism to stay relevant. Despite the denials, the allegation has added a dark and dangerous dimension to the 2026 election narrative. The police and intelligence units are reportedly monitoring the situation closely as supporters of both factions have started intensifying their rhetoric on the ground.
