A routine walk turned into a nightmare for a woman in Macau, China, when she realized she was being followed. Glancing up from her mobile phone, she was horrified to find a 4-foot-4-inch metallic robot standing directly in front of her with its arms raised. The humanoid, constructed from metal rods, caused such intense panic that the woman had to be rushed to the hospital for shock.

The incident occurred during a field test conducted by a middle-aged man who was operating the robot remotely. Local police intervened swiftly, detaining the robot on charges of causing public distress—marking a rare instance of a machine being “taken into custody.”

According to the New York Post, while the woman was discharged after a medical check-up, the bizarre event has sparked widespread concern regarding the safety of testing robots in public spaces.
