CPIM to Release First Candidate List This Monday! Biman Bose Hints at a Youth-Heavy Squad for 2026

The political atmosphere in West Bengal has intensified following the announcement of the 2026 Assembly Election dates. The Left Front, led by the CPI(M), is leaving no stone unturned to finalize its candidates. Left Front Chairman Biman Bose announced today that the party intends to release its primary list of candidates this Monday. With the elections scheduled in two phases, the Left aims to get an early start on their campaign trail.

Biman Bose emphasized that the selection process is in its final stages and the list will reflect a mix of veteran leadership and vibrant youth. Insider reports suggest that popular youth leaders like Minakshi Mukherjee, Srijan Bhattacharya, and Dipsita Dhar are likely to feature prominently in the first phase. The strategy behind releasing the list on Monday is to provide ample time for the candidates to connect with the voters at the grassroots level, especially in constituencies where seat-sharing with ISF has been finalized.

Regarding the alliance with Congress, Biman Bose hinted that while talks haven’t concluded, the Left Front cannot wait indefinitely and will proceed with their planned list. The primary focus for the 2026 elections remains on regaining the lost ground in traditional strongholds and offering a “credible secular alternative.” As the state prepares for a historic two-phase battle starting April 23, Monday’s candidate announcement will set the tone for the Left’s resurgence in West Bengal.
