From Meghalaya to Nadia: How the Accused in Hadi Murder Crossed Borders and Hid in Bengal?
The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has scored another significant victory in the high-profile Osman Hadi murder case by arresting a third suspect from the Nadia district. The arrest follows the recent apprehension of the mastermind, Faizal Karim Masud, and his accomplice Alamgir Hossain from the Bongaon border. The latest arrest has raised serious alarms regarding border security and the ease with which foreign criminals are finding safe havens in West Bengal.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang involved in the assassination of Osman Hadi in Bangladesh used the Meghalaya border to sneak into Indian territory. After their illegal entry, they moved into different pockets of Bengal. While the main culprits were hiding in a rented house in Bongaon, the third suspect had managed to blend into the local population in Nadia, presumably working under a false identity. STF officers conducted a swift operation based on tip-offs provided by the previously arrested individuals.
The STF is now focusing on the logistical support these fugitives received upon entering India. Authorities suspect a larger syndicate involved in human trafficking and providing shelter to foreign criminals. “The fact that they traveled from the Meghalaya border to the interiors of Bengal undetected is a matter of grave concern,” said a senior investigative officer. The arrested suspect is currently being interrogated to uncover the extent of the conspiracy and whether more accomplices are still hiding in the state. The coordination between the STF and central intelligence is intensifying to dismantle this trans-border criminal network.
