Tragedy at Kolkata Airport: Indigo Passenger Dies of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Before Reaching Bengaluru

In a heartbreaking incident at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata, a male passenger traveling with Indigo Airlines passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest. The passenger, who was en route to Bengaluru with his family for what was supposed to be a memorable trip, complained of severe chest pain shortly after deplaning or while inside the terminal premises.

The Sequence of Events: According to airport sources, the victim was accompanied by several family members. Witnesses reported that as they were navigating through the airport, the man suddenly gripped his chest and collapsed. The airport’s emergency medical response team was immediately summoned to the spot. After providing initial cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and stabilizing measures, he was rushed to the nearby Charnock Hospital. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

A Family Shattered: The victim’s family, who were looking forward to their stay in Bengaluru, were left in a state of absolute shock and despair. The joyful atmosphere of a family excursion turned into a nightmare within minutes. Co-passengers noted that there were signs of discomfort earlier, but the situation turned fatal rapidly after the aircraft landed.

Official Statements: Kolkata Airport authorities and Indigo Airlines have expressed their deep condolences to the bereaved family. While the primary cause of death is suspected to be a massive heart attack, the airport police have initiated a case of unnatural death as per standard protocol. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact medical reason. This tragic event serves as a grim reminder of the unpredictability of health emergencies during travel.
