LPG Crisis: Nabanna Sets Up 24/7 Control Room to Monitor Gas Distribution in West Bengal
To tackle the ongoing LPG shortage, the West Bengal state administration has launched a 24/7 special control room at Nabanna. This facility will monitor stock, supply, and distribution levels across all districts. A special committee led by the Chief Secretary will coordinate with district administrations, gas distributors, and oil marketing companies to ensure the supply chain remains functional.
The new directive prioritizes household cooking gas, alongside essential services like hospitals, health centers, Anganwadi/ICDS centers, schools, and government hostels. While commercial LPG supply will not be completely stopped, it will be regulated to ensure small eateries and essential food services remain operational.
To bolster logistics, the government has deployed additional delivery vehicles, increased cylinder dispatches from bottling plants, and declared LPG tankers as ‘essential transport.’ If necessary, special ‘Green Corridors’ will be created to ensure the rapid and uninterrupted transit of gas tankers across the state.
