Saurabh Shukla, a powerhouse of talent known for his impeccable timing and acting prowess, has decided to pivot. Following the completion of his shoot for Shah Rukh Khan’s mega-project ‘King’, the veteran actor has announced that he intends to shift his primary focus from acting to film direction.

While many might question the financial implications of leaving behind the stability of an acting career, Shukla remains unfazed. “Financially, it might have an impact, but the hunger of a creative person cannot be satisfied by money alone,” he admits. He believes the urge to tell his own stories, which he has cultivated over the years, can only be fulfilled through directing.

Shukla is currently deep in preparations for his upcoming directorial venture, which stars acting legends Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia. Directing these two powerhouse performers is a significant challenge, but one he is ready to embrace. He asserts, “It might seem foolish to some, but I cannot be in two places at once. Direction gives me the satisfaction that acting simply cannot.” Bollywood awaits with bated breath to see if Saurabh Shukla the director can replicate the success he achieved as an actor.
