Suvendu Adhikari Gifts Gita to New Governor, Urges Intervention in State Affairs
Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari met with the new Governor, R.N. Ravi, at Lok Bhawan today, a day after missing his oath-taking ceremony. Welcoming the Governor with an orange rose and a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, Adhikari held a 30-minute private discussion on the state’s pressing issues. After the meeting, he told the media, “I have folded my hands and requested the Governor to save the Constitution.”
Adhikari highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation, citing his own frequent suspensions from the assembly and the insecurity faced by opposition leaders. He also raised concerns regarding the attack on Khagen Murmu and the alleged pressure on the judiciary in the state. He directly attacked the Mamata Banerjee government, alleging that “appeasement” is the Chief Minister’s primary agenda, and warned about the demographic shifts caused by illegal infiltration.
Furthermore, he discussed the incidents surrounding President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit, asserting that it cannot be treated as a “closed chapter.” Adhikari also extended his support to protesting government employees, promising salary hikes if the BJP comes to power. Dismissing TMC’s protests on gas prices, he retorted with a sharp jibe. Adhikari expressed confidence that the Governor would take necessary steps to protect democracy and constitutional integrity in West Bengal.
