Taliban accuses Pakistan of bombing fuel depot in Kandahar
The Taliban government in Afghanistan has accused Pakistan of conducting devastating airstrikes on a private airline’s fuel depot near Kandahar Airport. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated that Pakistan did not stop at Kandahar, launching multiple attacks across several locations, including the capital, Kabul. The Taliban claims that these strikes have hit civilian homes, resulting in the deaths of several women and children.
According to Mujahid, the targeted facility belongs to ‘Kam Air’, which provides fuel for civilian flights and United Nations aircraft. The Taliban has declared that such “aggression” will not be tolerated and warned of a strong retaliation. So far, the Pakistani military and foreign ministry have remained silent, offering no official response to these serious allegations.
The conflict, which has been simmering for months, stems from the 2,600-kilometer disputed border and accusations from Islamabad that the Taliban is harboring militants conducting attacks within Pakistan. The Taliban consistently denies these claims, asserting that militancy is Pakistan’s internal issue. While China has been attempting to mediate, these fresh allegations have significantly heightened tensions in South Asia.
