Big Gift for Women! Punjab Govt Launches New Scheme Offering ₹1,500 Monthly Allowance

The Punjab government has taken a significant step toward women’s empowerment with the launch of the ‘Chief Minister Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana’. Under this initiative, women in the state will receive monthly financial assistance directly into their bank accounts. General category women will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from Scheduled Caste (SC) communities will get ₹1,500 per month.

To be eligible, an applicant must be at least 18 years old. However, certain exclusions apply: individuals who are current or former government employees, sitting or former MPs/MLAs, or income tax payers are ineligible. Furthermore, those already benefiting from existing social security pension schemes, such as old-age, widow, or disability pensions, will not be covered under this new scheme. Much like West Bengal’s highly successful ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ and other welfare programs, Punjab’s latest initiative aims to provide direct financial security to women, enhancing their socioeconomic status.
