FIR Against Hardik Pandya! National Flag Insulted During World Cup Celebration? Legal Trouble Mounts
Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has landed in hot water following India’s T20 World Cup 2026 victory. While the nation was celebrating the historic win, a lawyer in Pune, Wajid Khan, filed an FIR against Pandya for allegedly insulting the National Flag during the post-match celebrations.
The Controversy: The incident reportedly took place at the presentation podium where Hardik was seen celebrating with his partner, Mahika Sharma. In a video that went viral, Hardik, with the National Flag draped around his shoulders, was seen lying down on the podium with Mahika in an intimate manner. According to the complainant, this act violates Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. The lawyer stated that lying down while wearing the National Flag is a direct insult to the sanctity of the Tricolour.
Public Outcry: After his high-profile divorce from Natasha Stankovic, Hardik’s relationship with Mahika has been a constant topic of discussion. However, this time, the criticism isn’t just about his personal life but his perceived lack of decorum in the national jersey. Many fans have expressed disappointment, stating that while the joy of winning is understandable, the boundaries of modesty and respect for the flag should not have been crossed. The Shivaji Nagar Police in Pune have accepted the complaint, and further investigation is awaited.
