‘Will Ruin You in a Second!’ Opposition Unites Against Mamata’s Fiery Warning in Kolkata

The political temperature in West Bengal reached a boiling point today following a controversial statement by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a rally at Esplanade (Dharmatala). While taking a dig at her political rivals, Mamata reportedly said, “It will take just a second to ruin you (Barota bajiye debe)!” This remark has acted as a catalyst for a rare moment of unity among the opposition parties, with the BJP, Left, Congress, and ISF all demanding immediate intervention from the Election Commission.

Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari slammed the Chief Minister, labeling her speech as “unbecoming of a public servant” and a direct threat to opposition workers. CPM leader Mohammed Salim and Congress chief Shubhankar Sarkar joined the chorus, accusing the Trinamool supremo of using “language of intimidation” to suppress dissent. ISF MLA Naushad Siddiqui also weighed in, stating that such aggressive rhetoric highlights the ruling party’s growing frustration. As the opposition prepares to move the Commission collectively, the TMC remains on the defensive, claiming the remarks were taken out of context. The ‘ruin in a second’ jibe has now become the central point of a fierce political debate across the state.
