Cooking Gas Woes! Government Scrambles for Solutions Amid Booking Delays

Amidst the escalating LPG crisis across West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has convened an emergency meeting at Nabanna today with gas dealers and senior administrative officials. The high-level meeting aims to address the widespread complaints regarding delayed cylinder deliveries and supply gaps.

Consumers have been struggling as cylinders are not reaching households on time, even after booking. The CM highlighted that the new regulation mandating a 25-day gap between two consecutive bookings has significantly exacerbated the situation. Furthermore, delivery delays of 8 to 10 days have left many families in distress.

The Chief Minister asserted that the state government is prepared to take proactive steps to support its citizens, including the possibility of providing subsidies. However, she emphasized that while financial aid is a consideration, the core issue of insufficient market supply must be addressed first. Today’s meeting will focus on gathering direct feedback from dealers to formulate a robust strategy for restoring normal distribution and alleviating public hardship.
