Former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt while attending a wedding in Jammu. An assailant managed to get dangerously close to the veteran leader and fired a shot, but the bullet missed its target. The attacker was immediately overpowered by Farooq Abdullah’s security detail.

Umar Abdullah took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his shock and raise serious concerns. “My father had a very narrow escape. The attacker managed to fire from a very close range, but thanks to the swift reaction of the security team, the plot was foiled,” he wrote. Umar expressed deep skepticism over how an intruder could penetrate the Z+ NSG security ring, stating, “There are more questions than answers right now.” Authorities have launched a high-level probe into this major security lapse.
