Headline: CM Mamata Banerjee Orders ‘Green Channel’ for LPG to Curb Cooking Gas Crisis in Bengal

In a decisive move to tackle the artificial shortage and black marketing of cooking gas, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced the creation of a dedicated ‘Green Channel’ for LPG distribution. Addressing the concerns of common citizens, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state’s internal demand must be met on priority before any supply is diverted to neighboring states.

The CM noted that several reports had surfaced regarding local dealers hoarding stocks and creating an artificial scarcity to sell cylinders at inflated prices. To combat this, the ‘Green Channel’ initiative will ensure the swift and unhindered movement of LPG trucks across the state. Traffic police and local authorities have been instructed to provide priority passage to these vehicles, minimizing delivery timelines.

Strict directives have been issued to the district administrations to conduct surprise raids on warehouses. “The welfare of the people of Bengal comes first,” the CM stated, warning that any agency found smuggling gas to other states while local consumers suffer will face immediate cancellation of their permits and criminal proceedings. By streamlining the supply chain and tightening surveillance, the state government aims to stabilize the market and ensure that every household receives its cooking gas refill without unnecessary delays. This proactive stance is expected to bring significant relief to millions of kitchens across West Bengal.
