In a major development for the millions of daily commuters in the Sealdah Division, Eastern Railway has announced the introduction of several new local trains starting this March. Aimed at decongesting the heavily crowded routes and improving passenger comfort, these new services are expected to provide a seamless travel experience during the ongoing busy month.

According to railway officials, the additional services will be primarily operational on the Sealdah-Ranaghat (Main), Sealdah-Bongaon, and Sealdah-Hasnabad (North) sections. The timing of these new trains has been strategically planned to coincide with peak office hours in the morning and evening. Furthermore, there are plans to upgrade more existing rakes to 12-coach compositions to increase carrying capacity.

“We have allocated new rakes to the division, and the regular services will commence by the last week of March,” stated a senior railway official. This expansion of the local train fleet will significantly reduce the waiting time at platforms and provide much-needed breathing space inside the compartments. Commuters are advised to keep an eye on the official UTS app and station display boards for the detailed updated schedule.
