Major Blow to INDIA Bloc! No-Confidence Motion Against Speaker Om Birla Defeated in Lok Sabha

In a significant show of strength during the Parliament’s Budget Session, the NDA government successfully defeated the No-Confidence Motion brought against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The motion, moved by the Opposition’s ‘INDIA’ bloc, failed to clear the floor as it was dismissed via a voice vote. This victory cements Om Birla’s position and highlights the numerical superiority of the ruling coalition in the lower house.

The Opposition had introduced the motion citing allegations of bias and claiming that the Speaker was frequently suppressing the voices of non-NDA members. However, the move backfired as the NDA constituents stood united during the voting process. As soon as the result was announced, ruling party members broke into cheers, while the Opposition launched a fierce protest, leading to chaotic scenes inside the chamber.

Following the defeat of the motion, the Parliament witnessed unprecedented uproar. Opposition leaders expressed their discontent by trooping into the well of the house, shouting slogans against the administration. The chaos eventually led to the adjournment of the session. Political analysts suggest that while the motion was destined to fail due to numbers, its defeat has left the INDIA bloc searching for new strategies to corner the government in the remaining days of the session.
