Emergency Meet at Nabanna: State Cracks Down on Oil Black Marketing!
The West Bengal government has taken a stern stance against the rising concerns of black marketing and artificial scarcity of edible and fuel oils in the state. In a high-level emergency meeting held at Nabanna, the state administrative headquarters, the Home Ministry summoned representatives from all major oil companies to address the issue of price manipulation and illegal hoarding.
Home Ministry’s Direct Warning: During the session, senior officials of the Home Ministry emphasized that any attempt to hoard essential oil supplies to inflate market prices will be met with severe legal consequences. The state has received several reports indicating that some distributors are intentionally withholding stocks to create a false shortage. The administration made it clear that “zero tolerance” would be maintained regarding such unethical practices that directly impact the common man’s budget.
Monitoring and Enforcement: To ensure a smooth supply chain, the government has directed oil companies to submit weekly reports on their stock levels and distribution patterns. Furthermore, the Enforcement Branch (EB) along with local police units has been authorized to conduct surprise raids on warehouses and retail hubs across all districts. The formation of a Special Task Force aims to stabilize the market immediately. By taking these proactive measures, the state government intends to ensure that essential commodities remain affordable and accessible to every citizen.
