Incorrect Address on Aadhaar Card? Here’s How to Update it Online in Simple Steps
If your address on your Aadhaar card is incorrect or you have recently moved, you can easily update it using the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) website.
How to Update Your Address:
- Visit the official UIDAI portal.
- Click on the ‘Document Update’ option.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and verify it using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Select the ‘Address Update’ section.
- Enter your correct new address and upload the necessary supporting documents.
- Upon submission, you will receive an acknowledgment slip and an Update Request Number (URN) to track the status of your request.
Required Documents: You can upload any valid address proof, such as an electricity bill, bank statement/passbook, rent agreement, passport, voter ID, or any government-issued address proof. Ensure that your name and address are clearly visible on the document.
Timeline and Cost: Once the request is submitted, UIDAI verifies the details, which typically takes around 30 days. According to UIDAI, address updates are currently free of charge until July 2026. However, changes involving names, dates of birth, mobile numbers, or biometric details may incur a fee ranging from ₹75 to ₹125.
