Known for his deep connection with the state, Bose penned a touching open letter to the people of Bengal before his departure. Addressing the citizens as his “dear brothers and sisters,” he expressed deep gratitude for the love and support he received during his tenure.

In the letter, Bose quoted Mahatma Gandhi, saying, “I cannot leave Bengal, and Bengal will not let me go,” stating that he feels the exact same bond. He referred to West Bengal as his “second home” and promised to stay connected to its people. Recalling his district tours, he mentioned that dining with villagers and interacting with students remain his most cherished memories. Invoking Rabindranath Tagore’s values, he concluded by wishing for the state’s prosperity and added, “May Maa Durga protect my people.”
