Scanning Beneath the Surface! SPG to Conduct Underground Safety Checks at Modi’s Brigade Rally
The Special Protection Group (SPG) has decided to implement a multi-layered security blanket for PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming rally at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground. In a rare move, the elite force intends to conduct a thorough underground scan of the venue. The objective is to ensure that there are no old tunnels, hidden cavities, or explosive materials buried beneath the historical ground, especially near the main dais.
Sources suggest that the SPG might use Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to survey the soil layers before the stage is constructed. A detailed meeting between the SPG and senior officials of the Kolkata Police (Lalbazar) has already taken place. The entire ground will be sanitized days in advance, with drone surveillance and restricted entry. This intensified “under-the-soil” inspection underscores the high-security threat assessment associated with this pre-election mega-event.
