In a significant development in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed the West Bengal government to publish the report of the Justice Shyamal Sen Commission. The report, which has remained confidential for years, contains crucial findings related to the investigation and the refund process for millions of duped investors.

The commission was set up by the state government in 2013 shortly after the scam surfaced to investigate the collapse of the Saradha Group and suggest ways to compensate the victims. Although the commission submitted its findings after its term ended in 2014, the state had not released the report officially. The High Court, while hearing a petition, emphasized that the public and the victims have a right to know the details mentioned in the report.
