“Not a Single Mention of Bengal in 5100 Seconds!” Abhishek Banerjee Slams ‘Visionless’ Union Budget

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Union Budget 2026, describing it as “faceless, baseless, and visionless.” Highlighting the neglect of West Bengal, he pointed out that in the Finance Minister’s 85-minute (5,100 seconds) speech, the state was not mentioned even once. “It seems the Prime Minister and Home Minister view the 10 crore people of Bengal as Bangladeshis, which is why we have been completely ignored,” he remarked.
On the industrial front, Banerjee criticized the lack of clarity regarding job creation. He noted that while the government talks about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Skill India, there is no concrete plan to provide employment to the youth. He dismissed the announcements regarding corridors as repetitive and claimed the budget offers zero financial security for farmers, fishermen, or the working class. According to him, this budget is a tool for the BJP to “punish” Bengal for their defeat in the 2021 elections.
