In a significant development in the R G Kar Medical College financial irregularity case, the self-proclaimed whistleblower and former Deputy Superintendent, Akhtar Ali, surrendered before the Alipore Court today. After skipping the CBI summons on Monday, Ali’s sudden surrender has ignited fresh speculation regarding his involvement in the case.

Speaking to the press, Ali admitted, “I might have made some mistakes innocently, but I have not committed any crime.” Explaining his absence yesterday, he cited the need for legal consultations before appearing. Notably, it was Ali who first raised his voice against the alleged malpractices of former Principal Sandip Ghosh. However, as the CBI probe intensified, discrepancies were found in Ali’s previous statements. The court is currently hearing his bail plea, while the central agency remains keen on interrogating him to uncover the deeper layers of the hospital’s financial mess.
