Major Move to Oust Om Birla! Opposition Issues Notice to Remove Lok Sabha Speaker

The battle lines have been drawn in the Lok Sabha as the opposition ‘INDIA’ bloc moved a formal notice on Tuesday morning seeking the removal of Speaker Om Birla. According to Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, the notice bears the signatures of 120 MPs from the Congress, DMK, Samajwadi Party, and other allied groups.

The TMC Twist In a significant development, PTI reported that no MP from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has signed the resolution. This unexpected distance maintained by Mamata Banerjee’s party has sparked intense speculation about the unity within the opposition camp regarding this high-stakes move.

Why the Removal Move? The opposition has frequently accused the Speaker of being partisan and suppressing their voices during crucial debates. By filing this notice, the opposition aims to put the ruling NDA on the defensive. While the numbers favor the government, this move marks a symbolic escalation in the ongoing power struggle within the Parliament.
