A wave of tension has gripped Midnapore’s Karnagarh following allegations of an assault on a rural doctor by a local TMC leader. Kanchan Chakraborty, the TMC Regional President of Karnagarh, is accused of beating Dr. Nikhil Kumar Ghosh in his clinic and forcibly taking him to a patient’s house after the doctor refused a home visit.

Dr. Ghosh, who has refrained from home visits since the pandemic, claimed he was physically assaulted and intimidated. Shockingly, when he was forced to reach the patient’s house, he discovered the patient had passed away long ago. Fearing for his life, the doctor has fled the area and filed a formal complaint at Salboni Police Station. While the TMC leader termed it a mere “reprimand,” the BJP has slammed the ruling party, questioning the safety of healthcare professionals in the state.
