Clash in Bihar Assembly! Maithili Thakur Challenges Her Own Health Minister Over Poor Hospitals

In a rare instance of internal dissent, first-time BJP MLA and renowned singer Maithili Thakur locked horns with Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey during the Budget Session of the State Assembly. Expressing her dissatisfaction with the Minister’s response regarding a crumbling government hospital in her constituency, Maithili highlighted the grim reality of healthcare infrastructure.

During the Q&A session, Maithili raised the alarming condition of the government hospital in Kurason Nadiami, Tardih block. While the Health Minister claimed the building was ‘repairable’ rather than ‘unsafe,’ Maithili countered by stating his assessment did not match reality. She informed the House that a critical healthcare facility was operating out of a single tiny room without any MBBS doctors present.

The video of this exchange quickly went viral, with netizens praising Maithili for prioritizing public welfare over party lines. In an Instagram post, she remarked, “Quality healthcare for the people of my region is our priority. No compromise on public health is acceptable.” Maithili, who defeated RJD heavyweight Binod Mishra by over 12,000 votes to represent the Alinagar constituency, has set a strong precedent for accountability in the assembly.
