“I’m All Alone, Have No Money”! Rajpal Yadav Breaks Down Before Surrendering at Tihar Jail

In a dramatic turn of events, popular Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has surrendered at Delhi’s Tihar Jail following the Delhi High Court’s refusal to grant him further extensions in a long-standing check bounce case. The case, involving an outstanding debt of approximately ₹2.5 crore, stems from his 2010 directorial venture, ‘Aata Pata Laapata.’
The actor had initially borrowed ₹5 crore for the film, but its box-office failure plunged him into a severe financial crisis. Over the years, despite making partial payments—including ₹75 lakh in 2025—the legal battle continued as several checks issued by him were dishonored. On February 4, 2026, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma dismissed his final plea for more time, stating that a person’s public profile does not entitle them to repeated judicial leniency.
Moments before surrendering, an emotional Yadav expressed his despair, stating, “Sir, what should I do? I have no money left… In this crisis, we are all alone; there are no friends.” With this surrender, the curtains have drawn on a 16-year-old legal saga that saw the actor’s debt balloon to nearly ₹9 crore at one point.
