“Leave Your Husband for Me”: Barabanki Police Officer Accused of Molesting Woman Under Pretext of Investigation

A Sub-Inspector deployed at the Ramnagar police station in Barabanki district has allegedly shattered the claims of “friendly policing” by subjected a woman to relentless harassment and molestation. The victim has filed a formal complaint with the Superintendent of Police and the Chief Minister’s portal, seeking justice against the officer’s atrocities.

Abuse of Authority: The victim alleged that the officer used a family dispute investigation as an excuse to frequent her house. He reportedly entered her room whenever the male members were away and coerced her to leave her husband. According to the woman, the officer said, “You are smart and educated; leave your husband and stay with me. I will provide you with a good job.”

Abduction Attempt and Indecent Acts: In a horrifying escalation, the victim stated that the officer once stopped her on the road and forcibly dragged her into his car. Inside, he allegedly grabbed her hand and made lewd gestures. “I managed to escape only after screaming for help and attracting a crowd,” she recounted while breaking down in tears.

Threats of False Implication: Instead of taking corrective action, the influential Sub-Inspector is now allegedly threatening to frame the woman’s husband in fabricated cases of robbery and liquor smuggling. Despite multiple complaints at the local level, no action was taken initially. However, following the public outcry, SP Arpit Vijayvargiya has ordered a thorough probe into the matter to ensure the officer’s accountability.
