No Cave Access at Chhota Mahadev Bhopali This Mahashivratri: Administration Cites Safety Hazards

Pilgrims planning to visit the famous religious site of Chhota Mahadev Bhopali in the Ghoradongri block for Mahashivratri will face restrictions this year. The local administration has officially banned entry into the main cave during the festival, citing severe safety concerns and structural risks.
Structural Instability After Rains: According to Shahpur SDM Prapanj R, a joint inspection by four departments recently evaluated the site. The report highlighted that existing cracks within the cave have widened significantly due to recent heavy rainfall. To prevent any catastrophic landslide or injury, the route to the inner sanctum remains restricted for the general public.
Virtual Darshan via LED Screens: Understanding the religious sentiments of the devotees, the administration has arranged for the “live darshan” of the Shivling. Large LED screens will be installed outside the cave, broadcasting the visuals directly from the sanctum. This measure aims to balance public safety with the spiritual needs of the thousands of devotees expected to gather during the Mahashivratri fair.
