Asansol’s ‘Blanket Row’ Returns! Men Flee Village in Fear of Arrest After Molestation Charges Against BJP Leader

The ghost of the infamous “blanket distribution incident” has returned to haunt Asansol. This time, a distribution drive organized by local BJP leader Krishna Prasad in the Salidanga area has triggered a massive political showdown. Following a complaint of alleged molestation filed by a local woman, the Raipara area of Ward 13 has reportedly become “men-less” as male residents have fled their homes fearing police crackdowns.
The tension began when a group of youths confronted Krishna Prasad with “Go Back” slogans during his charity event. While the leader left the spot, his supporters completed the distribution. Shortly after, a molestation case was filed against Prasad and his associates, leading to a protest by TMC workers led by Councilor Shyam Soren, who demanded immediate arrests.
Terrified of being implicated in political crossfire, most men in Raipara have gone into hiding. Local women expressed frustration, claiming that innocent villagers are being targeted in a political vendetta. “There is not a single man in the house; how will we survive?” asked a distressed resident. While BJP leader Krishna Prasad called it a “conspiracy,” the police maintained that the situation is under control and dismissed claims of the village being entirely deserted.
