Family Feud Ends in Tragedy! Durgapur Man’s Body Found in Mukutmanipur Reservoir After Heated Argument

A 40-year-old man from Durgapur allegedly died by suicide following a domestic dispute, with his body recovered from the Kangsabati reservoir on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Biswajit Ghosh, a resident of Arabindanagar in Durgapur’s A-Zone, had been missing since Sunday after a heated argument with his family members.
According to police sources, Biswajit left his home in a fit of rage on Sunday, riding his bicycle. When he didn’t return, frantic family members launched a search and traced his location to the Mukutmanipur area. Local police were alerted on Sunday afternoon and soon discovered his bicycle abandoned on the banks of the reservoir, raising alarms about a potential tragedy.
A search operation was immediately initiated by the Khatra Sub-divisional Civil Defense team. After hours of searching, the team pulled out Biswajit’s body near the lock gate of the Kangsabati dam on Monday morning. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim jumped into the reservoir due to mental distress caused by the family feud. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body for an autopsy.
