A horrific incident of sexual assault has rocked the Baduria area in North 24 Parganas, where a 22-year-old specially-abled woman was allegedly raped by her neighbor. The accused, a man in his 50s, reportedly lured the victim with the promise of food before committing the heinous crime in a nearby field.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when the victim was sitting alone on the veranda of her house. Taking advantage of the situation, the neighbor approached her and lured her to a secluded bottle gourd (Lau) garden. When family members couldn’t find her, they launched a search and were led to the garden by the sound of muffled groans. They discovered the victim in a semi-conscious state.

Upon regaining consciousness, the victim narrated the ordeal, stating that the accused had threatened to kill her if she spoke out. An FIR has been lodged at the Baduria Police Station. “The victim has undergone a medical examination, and we are tracking the location of the accused, who fled shortly after the incident,” said a senior official from the Basirhat Police District. The local community has demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrator to ensure justice for the survivor.
