A Scrapped Paper Changed Her Fate! From a ₹4K Clerk to a Successful Entrepreneur, Meet Anjana Oraon

In a remarkable story from the Korea district of Chhattisgarh, a torn piece of paper found in a trash can transformed a tribal woman’s life forever. Anjana Oraon, once a part-time data entry operator earning a meager ₹4,000 a month, is now a thriving entrepreneur and a symbol of women’s empowerment.

The Turning Point: Working in the Khandgaon Panchayat office, Anjana struggled to support her family, especially during the lockdown when her salary was slashed. In 2017, she stumbled upon a discarded leaflet in a dustbin detailing the Prime Minister’s Micro-Employment Scheme. That single moment ignited her ambition to start her own venture.

The Road to Success: With guidance from the District Industries Centre, Anjana planned to set up a Fly Ash Bricks manufacturing unit. Securing a ₹30 lakh bank loan was an uphill battle filled with repeated rejections and societal mockery. However, her persistence paid off when she launched ‘Anjana Enterprises’ in 2025. Today, her unit produces 15,000 bricks daily, and her annual income has reached ₹7 lakh.

Official Recognition: Korea District Collector Chandan Tripathi praised Anjana’s grit, stating, “Anjana Oraon is a powerful example of self-reliance. Inspired by a piece of paper from a dustbin, she utilized government schemes to not only become independent but also generate employment for others.”
