Elephant Terror in Bokaro! 3 Elderly Trampled to Death Inside Home by Herd of Five

A horrifying incident of man-animal conflict has shaken the Bokaro district of Jharkhand. In the early hours of Thursday, a herd of five wild elephants attacked a house in Badki Punnu village under the Gomia block, trampling three elderly residents to death on the spot.

The Tragic Incident: The victims have been identified as Ganga Karmali (65), his wife Kamli Devi (62), and her sister-in-law Bhagia Devi (65), residents of Karmali Tola. The attack occurred around 3:00 AM while the victims were fast asleep. The elephants broke through the walls of the house and crushed the three individuals before they could escape. Another woman was critically injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gomia.

Villagers Demand Safety Measures: The frequent movement of elephant herds in the Gomia region has caused widespread fear and resentment among the locals. Villagers have accused the forest department of negligence and are demanding permanent solutions, such as installing high-mast lights and digging deep trenches along the roads to prevent elephants from entering residential areas.

Official Response: Bokaro DFO Sandeep Shinde confirmed the tragic deaths and stated that a forest department team has reached the site. Immediate compensation is being provided to the bereaved families as per government norms. Further legal proceedings and full compensation will be processed following the post-mortem reports.
