Medical Apathy Shocks MP: Man Carries Ailing Father on Shoulders as Hospital Fails to Provide Stretcher

In a harrowing incident that highlights the crumbling state of public healthcare, a man was forced to carry his elderly, ailing father on his shoulders at the Guna District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh. Despite several pleas for assistance, neither a stretcher nor any medical staff was provided to the patient, leaving the family in total despair.

Munesh Raghuvanshi had brought his father, Imrat Singh—a patient suffering from severe hypertension—to the hospital for urgent treatment. Munesh recounted his ordeal, stating that he ran from pillar to post with his father on his back, begging for help, but not a single ward boy or staff member intervened.

The nightmare didn’t end there. After eventually finding a stretcher on his own, Munesh realized the hospital lift was non-functional. Despite the hospital having 15 sanctioned ward boys on its payroll, none were available to assist him. Left with no choice, Munesh exerted his full strength to pull the heavy stretcher up to the third floor manually.

Following the public outcry after the video went viral, Dr. Rajkumar Rishishwar, CMHO of Guna District Hospital, termed the incident “unacceptable.” He assured that an inquiry has been initiated to identify the staff members on duty and promised strict disciplinary action against those responsible for this gross negligence.
