Five Die From Wrong Injection, Probe Committee Formed

Five patients have tragically died at the Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, Odisha, due to an incorrect injection. This incident has caused widespread commotion across the state. Reportedly, several patients who underwent surgery on Tuesday night were given a specific injection within a few hours. Subsequently, three patients in the ICU died around 11 PM, followed by the deaths of two more patients on general wards.
The families of the deceased patients allege that a hospital staff member administered the injection a second time, leading to this outcome. They claim that the incorrect injection is responsible for this tragic consequence. However, hospital authorities state that the patients were in critical condition and had received several injections, which perhaps did not work. An internal committee has been formed to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, and the police have also initiated a separate probe. The actual cause of death will be known once the post-mortem report is received. Hospital Superintendent Sushant Kumar Sahu stated that strict action will be taken if expired injections were administered or if any negligence is proven.
