YouTuber close to Jyoti arrested from Punjab on espionage charges

A YouTuber has been arrested from Rupnagar, Punjab, in a recent operation dubbed ‘Operation Mir Jafar’. The arrested individual, Jasbir Singh, has a YouTube channel with over 1 million subscribers. It is reported that Jasbir had close ties with Jyotirani Malhotra, a travel vlogger recently arrested, and Danish, an official at the Pakistan High Commission. Police sources indicate that Jasbir visited Pakistan three times, and his recovered mobile phone and other documents are being scrutinized. His alleged links with ISI are also under investigation.

Meanwhile, in the case of CRPF jawan Motiram Jat, arrested on suspicion of being a Pakistani spy, the NIA has uncovered sensational information. The investigation reveals that approximately 1 million rupees were sent from Kolkata to the accounts of active Pakistani spies across various parts of the country. Investigators obtained this information by interrogating Mominpur businessmen Masud Alam and Mohammad Ejaz. Jasbir’s phone reportedly contained around 150 Pakistani numbers, and he visited Pakistan in 2020, 2021, and 2024. He was even seen at Pakistan’s National Day celebration hosted at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. After Jyoti’s arrest, Jasbir attempted to delete documents related to Pakistani links from his mobile, but forensic experts were able to recover them.
